The aim of this work is to assess how the size influences the risk in mega-projects. The paper applies a Risk Management Process (RMP) in the context of a Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) project comparing two sizes of reactors: Large Reactor (LR) and Small-Medium Reactor (SMR). The literature review of 18 RMPs showed that the SHAMPU is the best model to apply in the specific context of a NPP. In literature there are some works based on DCF analysis that compare LRs and SMRs, demonstrating that economy of scale can be balanced by the economy of multiple. These works don’t consider an overall risk framework. This paper aims to fill this gap by focusing on a complete risk analysis of nuclear reactors. The results show that SMRs can reduce some risks even if LRs have a reduced uncertainty because some of them are now in the construction phase.

Abstract
The results show that SMRs can reduce some risks even if LRs have a reduced uncertainty because some of them are now in the construction phase.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
