Milano, la Ghirlanda

The aim of the project research is to create a place that can relate the issues of the modern society with the respect of the ancient palimpsest of Milan, in particular in the context of La Ghirlanda. For that reason, the drawing phase was preceded by a large research about the historical events of the Castle that took place during the centuries. To best guarantee the dialogue with the ancient heritage, it is from the study of the ancient proportions and morphologies that the project takes initiative, that in this case are represented by the Viscontean age and the XVIII century phase of La Ghirlanda. In particular, the project is an integrant part of the archeological walk that follows the ancient sediment of the medieval and spanish walls of Milan, it also creates a new cultural centre near the Castello Sforzesco on the sediment of La Ghirlanda. The architectural project, in particular in the archeological area, has to be the result of the concatenation and dialogue between different disciplines, from the compositive ones to the scientific and plant engineering. For that reason it doesn’t have to be realized by different topics, but the different knowledges have to be developed at the same time to complete each other and to contribute to the quality of the project.

Il fine della ricerca progettuale è quello di ideare un luogo che possa relazionare le esigenze della società contemporanea con il rispetto per il palinsesto storico di Milano, in particolare nell’ambito della Ghirlanda. Per questo motivo alla fase di disegno del progetto è preceduta un’ampia ricerca sulle vicende edilizie e storiche che si sono susseguite nell’arco dei secoli nel contesto del Castello di Milano. Per garantire il dialogo con il patrimonio storico, è proprio a partire dallo studio delle antiche proporzioni e morfologie che il progetto deve prendere l’iniziativa, che in questo caso sono rappresentate dalla Ghirlanda nel periodo Visconteo e ne periodo Ottocentesco. In particolare l’intervento si interpone come continuo nell’ideale passeggiata archeologica che percorre la cerchia delle mura medievali e spagnole di Milano, creando un polo museale e culturale nei pressi del l’odierno Castello Sforzesco sul sedime della Ghirlanda. Il progetto architettonico inoltre, in particolare nell’area archeologica, deve essere il frutto della concatenazione e del dialogo fra diverse discipline, da quelle compositive e di ricerca storica a quelle tecniche, scientifiche e impiantistiche. Per questo motivo esso deve realizzarsi non per compartimenti separati, ma al contrario le diverse conoscenze devono essere portate avanti di pari passo in quanto possano insieme completarsi e contribuire alla qualità generale del progetto.
