In a world more and more oriented towards green solutions, even in the aviation industry the interest in electric aircraft is increasingly growing. The purpose of this thesis is to develop and validate, starting from a base provided by De Zubeldia and Stefanelli in their previous works, a methodology able to calculate the performance of a propeller, both when it is in its classical function as an aircraft propeller and when it is used as an in-flight energy generator, and to optimize its geometry in order to maximize the recuperated power or the efficiency in the regeneration phase. The developed methodology was then used in the attempt to design an optimal propeller suitable for the Alpha Electro, an electric propulsion aircraft produced by Pipistrel Aircraft.

Abstract
In a world more and more oriented towards green solutions, even in the aviation industry the interest in electric aircraft is increasingly growing. The purpose of this thesis is to develop and validate, starting from a base provided by De Zubeldia and Stefanelli in their previous works, a methodology able to calculate the performance of a propeller, both when it is in its classical function as an aircraft propeller and when it is used as an in-flight energy generator, and to optimize its geometry in order to maximize the recuperated power or the efficiency in the regeneration phase. The developed methodology was then used in the attempt to design an optimal propeller suitable for the Alpha Electro, an electric propulsion aircraft produced by Pipistrel Aircraft.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
