From the main path it is possible to access secondary paths that allow the exploration of the area of Bognanco. Following a meeting with the local administration, we opted to survey the Pinzaco and Collorio areas, which belong to one of the ring-shaped paths. Pinzaco is home to a large population during the summer, that declines to only six dwellers during the rest of the year. Its many buildings fallen in disuse have been considered good opportunities for intervention. Conversely, there are only two abandoned buildings in Collorio: the home and the barn of Giacomo Galletti, who is one of the most important locals, which has gone down in history for supporting culture through many promotional works, among which the construction of schools. Starting from these assumptions, it was decided to intervene in distinct points of the area following an overall strategy. The idea is to locate a cultural centre in the area of Collorio, linked to the area of Pinzanco both for proximity and addressed topics. The latter has been allocated for a residential area, an indoor market and a agriturism with the aim of establishing an innovative product chain deeply-rooted in the old farming tradition of the place.
Collorio e Pizzanco. Interventi puntuali per una strategia di rigenerazione

Abstract
The Internal Areas are the majority of the national territory. They have been identified by means of SNAI strategy in the Italian cities farest from essential services. They are considered fragile and marginal areas, therefore they are at abandonment risk. The choice of the area for the project is the outcome of several considerations. First of all, its background comes from a deeper understanding of the theme and from the territorial readings of the Val d'Ossola tackled during the Tematic Reaserch Seminar of «Architettura e Energia: studi e progetti per i territori fragili» held by professor Ilaria Valente. The Val Bognanco has attracted the curiosity of the authors due to its peculiar flourishing history, linked to thermal baths, and its following decline and depopulation. As far as the valley is concerned, a structured travel system has been detected around the historical path Stockalper, which connects Domodossola to Briga. The latter has been allocated for a residential area, an indoor market and a agriturism with the aim of establishing an innovative product chain deeply-rooted in the old farming tradition of the place.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
