The challenge of transforming a type of building historically static and rooted in a place, such as the theater, in a traveling and reversible element which could offer the opportunity to spectators of different places to enjoy dramatic performances and exhibitions, has been approached with a prototype. In particular, it has been paid attention to the complexity of the space and use relations but also to the relationship with diverse contexts. The aim was to bring a form of contemporary theatre installed in urban spaces that are usually foreign to it, whether they be urban, natural or semi-rural. Whether unusual users or a simple flâneur, it has been the opportunity to a wider audience to get back in touch with the unfolding of events not mediated by artificial means, but lived in direct and collective form. The arrival of this unusual architecture also involves citizens who decide not to become spectators of it but co-participant of a larger urban staging, where the theatrical organism acts as a part of it. More practically, the installation can take different internal configurations with the variable positionning of the scene and audience depending on the dramaturgical representations. In the same logic, different external configurations of the modular and external structures ease the connection and adaptation to the context. The prototype consists of a closed and opaque "core", the theatrical room, which host the operating spaces and telescopic bleachers for spectators with a capacity of 200 to 300 seats depending on the location of the scene. Around this pivot take shape all the spaces of service and circulation of the users that are organized in a metal structure with modular frame and variable configurations. The base of it has the same purpose and constitutes the link between the share of the theatrical space and the landing ground. All these elements make a public space that, although temporary, becomes an opportunity for meetings and activities in harmony with the place that welcomes them. Efforts have been concentrated on the use of materials and construction techniques typical of ephemeral structures. More than having many common points with nomad structures, our ambition was also to provide a true reversible theater with all the constructive details that it requires. To conclude the project, it has been imagined a stable a final location in which to settle, with its appropriate acustical and thermal confort, once completed its travel through various projects that required its presence. Its lifecycle has been measured in months, or rather years, and on these times all the phases of storage, transport, assembly and disassembly of all the elements have been calibrated.
La sfida di trasformare un tipo edilizio storicamente statico, radicato in un luogo, come il teatro in un elemento itinerante e reversibile, che offrisse la possibilità a spettatori di diversi luoghi di fruire di rappresentazioni drammatiche ed esposizioni, con una particolare attenzione alla relazione con i differenti contesti, è stata affrontata con il progetto di un prototipo che cercasse di riassumerne la complessità. L’obiettivo era di portare una forma di teatro contemporaneo in luoghi che di norma gli sono estranei, siano essi contesti urbani o naturali o semi rurali, avvicinando fruitori non abituali o semplici flâneur; dando l’opportunità ad un pubblico più vasto di tornare in contatto con lo svolgersi di eventi non mediati da mezzi artificiali, ma vissuti in forma diretta e collettiva. L’arrivo di questo ospite inconsueto coinvolge anche i cittadini che decidono di non diventare spettatori rendendoli coprotagonisti di una messa in scena più ampia, urbana, dove lo stesso organismo teatrale con tutte le sue diramazioni esterne è attore. Può infatti assumere diverse configurazioni interne con il variare della posizione di scena e pubblico a seconda delle rappresentazioni drammaturgiche, e altrettanto differenti configurazioni esterne con la disposizione degli elementi che lo costituiscono per cercare di stabilire una relazione con il contesto che lo accoglie. Il prototipo si compone di un “nucleo” chiuso e opaco, la sala teatrale, che al suo interno ospita le strutture operative e le gradonate telescopiche mobili per gli spettatori con una capienza da 200 a 300 posti in alla base collocazione della scena. Attorno a questo perno prendono forma tutti gli spazi di servizio e circolazione dei fruitori che sono organizzati in una struttura metallica a telaio modulare a configurazione variabile, così come il basamento su cui poggia tutto il sistema e che ha il compito di mediare tra la quota dello spazio teatrale il suolo di approdo. Attraverso questi elementi si costruisce uno spazio pubblico che seppur temporaneo diventa occasione di incontri e attività in sintonia con il luogo che li accoglie. Non da ultimo vi era l’intento di non utilizzare materiali e tecniche costruttive tipiche delle strutture effimere perché, pur avendo in comune con esse il nomadismo, il nostro ha l’ambizione di essere un vero teatro reversibile che, terminato il suo incarico a tempo attraverso svariati luoghi, possa trovare una collocazione stabile in cui stabilirsi, prima di ripartire quando si presenti l’occasione di un progetto drammaturgico che lo preveda o ne venga richiesto la presenza altrove. Pertanto il suo ciclo di viaggio/permanenza deve essere misurato in mesi, o meglio anni, e su questi tempi sono state calibrate tutte le fasi di stoccaggio, trasporto montaggio e smontaggio di tutti gli elementi e la conclusione del suo ciclo di vita.
