Fukuoka student hub

Japan is the most mysterious among the Asian countries, due to its history, its geographic conformation and the uniqueness of its territory, isolated for a long time as a stronghold far from the rest of the world. Fukuoka rises on the southern border of the island, overlooking the ocean directed towards the mainland. This position and the past of the city have given it a predisposition for innovation and an opening towards architectural experimentation in the urban, typological and formal fields. Numerous international architects have in fact contributed to the project of the city, generating a true narrative exhibition of the built. This is the case, for example, of the “Street of World Architects” and the “Nexus World Complex”, where there are examples of innovation and research. This thesis project fits here, with the aim of co-living with existing architecture, enhancing the surrounding heritage and thus making an already young and dynamic neighborhood even more lively and attractive. The project intends to create a space dedicated to the life of students as a real “hub”. The work of this studio focuses on architectural and urban composition, then delving into the technological, systemic and structural aspects.

Il Giappone è tra i Paesi asiatici quello più misterioso per via della sua storia, della sua conformazione geografica e delle unicità presenti nel suo territorio, per lungo tempo isolato come roccaforte lontana dal resto del mondo. Fukuoka nasce sul confine meridionale dell’isola, affacciata sull’oceano diretta verso la terraferma. Questa posizione e il passato della città le hanno conferito una predisposizione alle novità e un’apertura verso la sperimentazione architettonica in ambito urbanistico, tipologico e formale. Numerosi architetti internazionali hanno infatti contribuito al progetto della città, generando una vera esposizione narrativa del costruito. E’ questo il caso per esempio della “Street of World Architects” e del “Nexus World Complex”, dove si trovano esempi di innovazione e ricerca. Si inserisce qui questo progetto di tesi, con l’obiettivo di convivere con le esistenti architetture valorizzando il patrimonio circostante e rendendo così ulteriormente vivo ed attrattivo un quartiere già giovane e dinamico. Il progetto intende realizzare uno spazio dedicato alla vita degli studenti come vero e proprio “hub”. Il lavoro di questo studio è incentrato sulla composizione architettonica e urbana, approfondendo poi gli aspetti tecnologici, sistemici e strutturali.
