Melting pot. A ceramic art pavilion built with earth

This thesis project deals with the theme of building with earth. Humanity’s oldest building material is coming to the forefront once again as an increasing worldwide interest is arising in response to environmental degradation that the planet is facing. In such a vulnerable and ever-changing environment, the shift towards methods and materials with the smallest possible energy footprint is now necessary and imperative. Thankfully there is an increasing tendency to build with soil, not only because of the awareness towards the natural disasters but also because the desire to live in a balanced and healthier indoor environment has been provoked.

Questo progetto di tesi tratta il tema del costruire con la terra. Il materiale da costruzione più antico dell'umanità sta venendo alla ribalta ancora una volta in quanto un crescente interesse mondiale sta nascendo in risposta al degrado ambientale che il pianeta sta affrontando. In un ambiente così vulnerabile e in continuo cambiamento, il passaggio a metodi e materiali con la minore impronta energetica possibile è ora necessario e imperativo. Fortunatamente c'è una crescente tendenza a costruire con la terra, non solo a causa della consapevolezza verso i disastri naturali ma anche perché è stato provocato il desiderio di vivere in un ambiente interno equilibrato e più sano.
