Open cultural center in Kyiv, Ukraine

The city of Kyiv has always been considered the cultural capital of Ukraine, or, in earlier times, the city in which it was always possible to enrich culturally. Since the beginning of Ukraine’s Independence, Kyiv has begun to change its appearance, turning into a more modern, vibrant city. Infrastructure development has greatly influenced its appearance, which, previously crowned with fruitful gardens leading to cultural squares and centers, has turned into a place where one looks only at residential buildings and offices without the necessary amount of free space and greenery. The buildings that served as sites of cultural enrichment, joint recreation, and education are becoming unsuitable, and no longer correspond to the modern needs of the city, namely, ease of transformation. Another global problem of the city, which was considered during the analysis, is the insufficient number of places for new versts of the populations’ integration, namely, settlers from Donbas, Luhansk regions, and Crimea, which was annexed by the Russian Federation in 2014. The displaced people need a place to share their stories, find common bonds with the citizens, and secure assistance in the multiple tasks that overtook them during their forced relocation. After analyzing the cultural development of the city and the needs of the people living there, the study moves towards understanding the integration of nature, city, and culture on the eastern coast of Kyiv, where there is an insufficient number of cultural places and developed parks, but a large number of permanent residents. Thus wise, the Thesis project aims to create a place that would help to potentially develop a connection between the eastern and western coasts of the city, lure visitors and raise the awareness of the life of displaced people in society. Moreover, its goal is to serve as a new open cultural space where people can integrate, share & perform with no boundaries.

La città di Kiev è sempre stata considerata la capitale culturale dell'Ucraina o, in passato, la città in cui è sempre stato possibile arricchirsi culturalmente. Dall'inizio dell'Ucraina Indipendenza, Kiev ha iniziato a cambiare aspetto, trasformandosi in un ambiente più moderno, vivace città. Lo sviluppo delle infrastrutture ha fortemente influenzato il suo aspetto, che, in precedenza coronato da fruttuosi giardini che portano a piazze e centri culturali, si è trasformato in un luogo dove si guardano solo edifici residenziali e uffici senza la necessaria quota di libero spazio e verde. Gli edifici che fungevano da siti di arricchimento culturale, ricreazione comune, e l'istruzione stanno diventando inadatti, e non corrispondono più alle moderne esigenze del città, vale a dire, facilità di trasformazione. Un altro problema globale della città, che è stato considerato durante l'analisi, è l'insufficienza numero di posti per nuovi versi di integrazione delle popolazioni, ovvero coloni del Donbas, Le regioni di Luhansk e la Crimea, che è stata annessa alla Federazione Russa nel 2014. Dopo aver analizzato lo sviluppo culturale della città e i bisogni delle persone che la abitano, lo studio si muove verso la comprensione dell'integrazione di natura, città e cultura sul costa orientale di Kiev, dove c'è un numero insufficiente di luoghi culturali e sviluppati parchi, ma un gran numero di residenti permanenti. Così saggio, il progetto Thesis mira a creare un luogo che aiuterebbe a sviluppare potenzialmente un collegamento tra l'oriente e l'occident coste della città, attirano visitatori e sensibilizzano sulla vita degli sfollati nella società. Inoltre, il suo obiettivo è fungere da nuovo spazio culturale aperto in cui le persone possono integrarsi, condividere & eseguire senza confini.
