Research on the application of sustainability strategies in urban waterfront public space. Design the urban waterfront area of the Jialing River in Chongqing

Urban waterfronts have been an important area of urban life since ancient times. In the late 20th century, after a large number of industrial waterfronts were abandoned, the transformation of urban waterfronts became an important topic in urban design and planning. A good sustainable waterfront space can improve the quality of life of citizens, help shape the image of the city, and achieve effective protection against flooding problems. Therefore, this thesis mainly conducts research and design in a typical mountainous waterfront city in China - Chongqing, to find design strategies and guidelines for sustainable waterfront space construction. This thesis selects the center urban waterfront areas in the Jialing River which is one of the most famous rivers in China. In the first chapter, the background of the research is mainly introduced, and the main purpose of the research is "explore the application of sustainable measures in mountainous urban waterfront areas". The second chapter is the methodology, which sorts out the framework of the research, provides a theoretical background by summarizing the current related papers, studies successful waterfront landscape cases, and organizes the results of the questionnaires issued for the research. The third chapter mainly analyzes the urban cultural and historical background of Chongqing and conducts a detailed analysis of the research scope at different scales, including traffic, land use, water level changes, green space systems, ecological habitats, and the current situation of embankments. The main purpose is to find out the main problems now so that the follow-up strategy design is more targeted. In the fourth chapter, how to build a sustainable waterfront space is proposed through three aspects: environmental strategies, community strategies, and embankment strategies. The fifth chapter is the detailed site design. In the waterfront region of the Jialing River, the Daxigou wharf, which has obvious local geographical characteristics and is located in the current urban crowded area, is selected for renewal design. The detailed design includes the ecological system, the waterfront activity space, and the reconstruction of the space under the bridge. Finally, it summarizes the relevant keys for the sustainable design of waterfront space for the city and hopes to provide design guidance for future urban waterfront renewal projects.

I waterfront urbani sono stati un'area importante della vita urbana sin dai tempi antichi. Alla fine del XX secolo, dopo l'abbandono di un gran numero di waterfront industriali, la trasformazione dei waterfront urbani è diventata un argomento importante nella progettazione e pianificazione urbana. Un buon spazio sostenibile sul lungomare può migliorare la qualità della vita dei cittadini, contribuire a plasmare l'immagine della città e ottenere una protezione efficace contro i problemi di inondazione. Pertanto, questa tesi conduce principalmente ricerca e progettazione in una tipica città montuosa sul lungomare della Cina - Chongqing, per trovare strategie di progettazione e linee guida per la costruzione sostenibile dello spazio sul lungomare. Questa tesi seleziona le aree del lungomare del centro urbano nel fiume Jialing, uno dei fiumi più famosi della Cina.
