Renarrating quota zero

The project focus on investigating and transforming the public dimension within the historical heritage site: the Società Umanitaria of Milan. The intervention aims to preserve the existing historical value and to introduce a new image for Umanitaria that serves the public now and near future. Public space, aside from fulfilling the individual needs of users, has one extra layer that connects and converges the society, which we call Quota Zero. It is not just an altitude of circulation, but it also reflects the attitude of structure, as a form of introduction and guidance from ground zero. In a historical context, where the narration is already rich, the voice of the intervention shall be clear and respectful of what is already existing. Our intention is to combine the stories that we have seen and learned on the site and present them to the visitor through the process of entering, without destruction of the valuable context. The thesis book provided context, synthesis, and detailed development for the project presented. The study focuses on the architectural design of the site with a multidisciplinary approach that includes material and preservation, technology and service design, BIM incorporation, and structure analysis.

Il progetto si concentra sull'indagine e la trasformazione della dimensione pubblica all'interno del sito del patrimonio storico: la Società Umanitaria di Milano. L'intervento mira a preservare il valore storico esistente ea introdurre una nuova immagine per Umanitaria al servizio del pubblico presente e nel prossimo futuro. Lo spazio pubblico, oltre a soddisfare le esigenze individuali degli utenti, ha uno strato in più che collega e fa convergere la società, che chiamiamo Quota Zero. Non è solo un'altitudine di circolazione, ma riflette anche l'atteggiamento della struttura, come forma di introduzione e guida da ground zero. In un contesto storico, dove la narrazione è già ricca, la voce dell'intervento deve essere chiara e rispettosa dell'esistente. La nostra intenzione è quella di unire le storie che abbiamo visto e appreso sul sito e presentarle al visitatore attraverso il processo di ingresso, senza distruzione del contesto di pregio. Il libro di tesi ha fornito contesto, sintesi e sviluppo dettagliato per il progetto presentato. Lo studio si concentra sulla progettazione architettonica del sito con un approccio multidisciplinare che include materiali e conservazione, tecnologia e progettazione dei servizi, incorporazione del BIM e analisi della struttura.
