This thesis project focuses on the design of a system aimed at helping groups of people within indoor public spaces, such as public elementary schools, to monitor various environmental factors and to actively intervene at the right time to improve a detected negative environmental situation, all through a tangible solution. In the research phase, after an initial exploratory literature search on the topics touched upon in the brief and on the chosen context, questionnaires and interviews led to the definition of the need for a new system that would raise awareness and provide suggestions to children and teachers so that they are aware of and can take care of negative IAQ situations in the classroom. Subsequently, through an in-depth analysis of Interactive Connected and Smart (ICS) Materials and a brainstorming on the ideal conceptualization of interaction and user experience, a solution centred on the “material experience” was defined, leading to the design of a monitoring system capable of communicating the “health” of the space through a change in the behaviour of the material, specifically through a layered solution that changes shape and movement, based on the environmental data collected. The result is Bloats: a flexible family of smart wall modules that are responsible for monitoring, communication and raise awareness/ educate on IAQ issues and good habits that can be useful by the individuals.

Abstract
The result is Bloats: a flexible family of smart wall modules that are responsible for monitoring, communication and raise awareness/ educate on IAQ issues and good habits that can be useful by the individuals.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
