Among the torrenti , the Polcevera is one of the major ones. Dividing the city in two parts almost equal in size, the stream acts as a real spine and constructive element, almost perpendicular to the coastline. Defining the valley of the same name, the Polcevera is born in Monte Leco with the name Verde. In the lower courses of the stream, from Pontedecimo to the mouth, the Polcevera used to be characterized by a relatively wide bed. However, with the quick urbanization of the stream borders through the years, it is now constricted by concrete embankments on both sides. The stream now flows through a densely urbanized and industrial landscape, sitched together by a net of roads, highways, bridges and railway lines and infrastructure. Nowadays the stream and its surroundings are threatened by numerous hazards. Our project proposal, « Stepping sones of Polcevera », aims to address this growing concern by carving patches of green areas and social activities inside this compact stream side, bringing life to the different areas along the stream, as well as aiding animals in their crossing of this part of the city through the implementation of three overlapping and structuring elements, the mobility network, the social network and the green network.

Abstract
Our project proposal, « Stepping sones of Polcevera », aims to address this growing concern by carving patches of green areas and social activities inside this compact stream side, bringing life to the different areas along the stream, as well as aiding animals in their crossing of this part of the city through the implementation of three overlapping and structuring elements, the mobility network, the social network and the green network.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
