The severity of danger related to an hostile event, as well as the reaction to it, strictly depends on the perception of the risk itself. During the last years the purely quantita- tive approach has been found to be basically ineffective for danger communication, and local communities have become impervious to hydraulic risk. The goal of the current thesis is to suggest a qualitative representation of the potential damages coming from flood events, classifying them through empyrical categories, in order to enhance the population awareness of hydraulic risk. The work takes as reference the field case of Lambro river flood event of 15/11/2014, of which some pieces of infor- mation were collected through literature about damages and troubles generated by the flood. Then, some qualitative scales were built: these were correlated to the simulated water depths in order to come up with a functional relationship to be used for different return periods.

Abstract
Then, some qualitative scales were built: these were correlated to the simulated water depths in order to come up with a functional relationship to be used for different return periods.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
