The Fleet Management industry, as well as the adoption of connected cars within corporate fleets, is becoming an increasingly strategic theme in recent years. The purpose of this thesis is to provide an analysis of the global scenario, with a focus also on the Italian environment, in order to investigate the main application fields and discover trends that are arising in the Fleet Management industry, and to understand which solutions introduce new business models. Various sources of information have been used during this work. The literature review proved useful for introducing the topic of connected cars and the fleet management theme, as well as the main characteristics. Subsequently, a more specific analysis of the various fleet management solutions at a global level has been carried out through the analysis of secondary sources, with the aim of populating the database. As regards the understanding of the Italian scenario, a survey addressed to big Italian enterprises has been run in collaboration with the “Connected Car & Mobility” Observatory of the School of Management of Politecnico di Milano. The result of this research is an overview of the state of art of the fleet management sector in terms of solutions available in the market, and how big Italian enterprises are dealing with it. Afterwards, from the output of this analysis, the introduction of new business models in the market has been identified; finally, the “New BM – Application Field matrix” has been developed to understand how innovative business models are positioned among the application fields.
