Abstract
The aim is to provide the opportunity for new nature-based approaches to be investigated during the design process. It is crucial to understand what nature-based solutions are, how to apply them, and what actions to take in response to specific challenges using "nature" as the main element. Nature-based solutions offer numerous advantages; however, in order to fully comprehend these benefits, it is necessary to evaluate and quantify the benefits of these actions in order to select the most appropriate practice. On the other hand, Without the limits of traditional design, using nature-based solutions concepts that address sustainability and aesthetical aspects extensively and simultaneously create a more integrated and dynamic environment. Using these solutions contributes to encouraging innovative methods for increasing awareness, sensibility, and value of nature in the constructed environment; for this purpose, a draft of spatial programs was assigned to attain a more sustainable eco-aesthetic environment. A part of the Santa Giulia neighborhood is chosen for the project study area. The focus is to suggest nature-based strategies while studying how to integrate aesthetic principles in a spatial design for creating a sustainable and human-oriented green space that despite responding to the environmental challenges the area is facing can convey deep aesthetic perceptions to evoke natural appreciation. From this perspective, the proposed strategies here are in concurrent interaction with aesthetic principles and ecological design motivations, in which the latter is purely concerned with environmental sustainability ideas. Aesthetics may be defined in various ways, as it is a link between the perception of beauty and the intellectual perception that comes from it, accordingly, the first sections of this thesis investigate scientific and philosophical definitions in terms of nature and natural design, how beauty can evolve in form and eco-aesthetics in the process of design.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
