Dal Ponte Sublicio al Giardino degli Aranci. Sistemazione del Clivo di Rocca Savella e Museo del Lungotevere Aventino

In Rome, on the Lungotevere Aventino, the area that goes from the Giardino degli Aranci to the foot of the Clivo di Rocca Savella has been an important land of many historical scenarios and legends, from Roman empire to today. Currently it is fragmented and there is a separation between the panoramic terrace, which allows a beautiful view of the Roman skyline, the height of the road and the other side of the Tiber river. History is often placed inside display cases, isolated from today's world, made observable, but intangible, belonging to its time and no longer happening, as if it were a photograph of itself. The intention was not to do this, but to return to the city and to the people, a museum site, where for a long time there has been a non-place, in which the segregation of archeology occurs. The project goes to recover the remaining ancient substructures and the archeology in the area below to make it a museum, which includes both closed and open spaces. The front is refurbished in relation to the viewpoint at the level of the embankments and subsequently the opposite bank in an integrated system of routes and lifts, thanks to the new Ponte Sublicio. The new Materials selected and the formal choices of the new dialogue are in harmony with the old style without mixing with it, avoiding affecting its clarity of interpretation. In this antiquarium there are countless finds currently left stacked in the surrounding area and others lying in Roman deposits. This is a place with an identity built through the past, but belonging to the present and the future, through the respect and enhancement of heritage; a place where you can immerse yourself in and perceive its vibrations and stories.

A Roma, sul Lungotevere Aventino, la zona che va dal Giardino degli Aranci ai piedi del Clivo di Rocca Savella è stata protagonista, dall’epoca romana ad oggi, di molti scenari storici e leggende. Attualmente si presenta frammentata e vi è separazione tra la terrazza panoramica, che permette un bellissimo sguardo sullo skyline romano, la quota della strada e l’altro versante del Tevere. Spesso la storia viene messa all’interno di teche, isolata dal mondo odierno, resa osservabile, ma intangibile, appartenente al suo tempo e senza più avvenire, come fosse fotografia di sé stessa. Non si è voluto far questo, ma restituire alla Città e alle persone, un sito museale, lì dove da lungo tempo vi è un nonluogo, in cui si verifica la segregazione dell’archeologia. Il progetto va a recuperare le sostruzioni antiche rimaste e l’archeologia nell’area sottostante per farne museo, che comprende sia spazi chiusi che a cielo aperto. Si ricostruisce il fronte e si collega, con un sistema integrato di percorsi e risalite, il belvedere alla quota degli argini e successivamente la sponda opposta, grazie al nuovo Ponte Sublicio. Le scelte materiche e formali del nuovo dialogano in armonia con l’antico, ma non vi si confondono, evitando di intaccarne la chiarezza di lettura. In questo antiquarium sono posti innumerevoli reperti al momento lasciati accatastati sul territorio circostante ed altri giacenti nei depositi romani. Un luogo con un’identità costruita tramite il passato, ma appartenente al presente e al futuro, attraverso il rispetto e la valorizzazione del patrimonio; un luogo in cui poter immergersi e percepirne le vibrazioni e i racconti.
