The rebirth of Societa Umanitaria. Preservation and transformation of the Societa Umanitaria complex

There are plenty of places with a "soul", which have existed for centuries, but have been silent and forgotten over time. These buildings are responsible for the social identity, urban values and urbanity of cities - which is why it is of the utmost importance that they can be reused. Today, restoration and preservation are very important and beneficial component in architectural world, they are connecting us with the past culture and education of architects in the past, while protecting the environment. The focus of the design is directed on an object of public importance: Societa Umanitaria. In the adaptation of the traditional concept of Umanitaria, it is necessary to look at the relationship between the program, the introduction of old and new content, in relation to the emerging needs of users. The goal is to create urbanity - which refers to architecture but also to events and processes arising from the cultural mission of Umanitaria. With all of these aspects, the project explained in this thesis considers to improve the use and quality of cloister buildings. With conservation approach the aim is to preserve all the important and characteristical places that have existed for centuries in this complex, and with transformation to achieve movement and the visual segment on the site better. Each added architectural segment will aim not to disturb the already existing structure and to be compatible both in materials and in function with already existing parts.

Ci sono moltissimi luoghi con un'"anima", che esistono da secoli, ma sono stati silenziosi e dimenticati nel tempo. Questi edifici sono responsabili dell'identità sociale, dei valori urbani e dell'urbanità delle città, motivo per cui è della massima importanza che possano essere riutilizzati. Oggi il restauro e la conservazione sono una componente molto importante e benefica nel mondo architettonico, ci stanno collegando con la cultura passata e formazione degli architetti in passato, tutelando l'ambiente. Il focus del design è diretto su un oggetto di importanza pubblica: Societa Humanitaria. Nell'adattamento del concetto tradizionale di Humanitaria, è necessario guardare al rapporto tra il programma, l'introduzione di vecchi e nuovi contenuti, in relazione ai bisogni emergenti degli utenti. L'obiettivo è creare urbanità - che si riferisca all'architettura ma anche agli eventi e ai processi derivanti dalla missione culturale di Umanitaria. Con tutti questi aspetti, il progetto spiegato in questa tesi considera di migliorare l'uso e la qualità degli edifici del chiostro. Con l'approccio della conservazione l'obiettivo è preservare tutti i luoghi importanti e caratteristici che esistono da secoli in questo complesso e con la trasformazione per ottenere meglio il movimento e il segmento visivo del sito. Ogni segmento architettonico aggiunto mirerà a non disturbare la struttura già esistente e ad essere compatibile sia nei materiali che nella funzione con già parti esistenti.
