Textiles are essential to our society because they provide us with clothing, shoes, carpets, curtains, furniture, and other items for our homes, offices, and public buildings. However, textile waste is a rising global issue. Textile production and consumption have serious environmental, climate, and social consequences. It is critical to reducing the pressures and impacts of textile production and consumption. A systemic shift and solution to circularity are required. This thesis discusses the remaking approach as a sustainable solution response to textile waste and the current fashion system. The remake has always been a standard design methodology for textile lovers, homemakers and young designers at school. Under the sustainable fashion wave, designers, brand managers and the entire world are experimenting with new solutions to build a better fashion system. Remake fashion has been brought back to attention with the booming of vintage & second-hand fashion trends. And yet, the question remains: What is remake? Why remake is a solution for fashion brands? How to create a remake fashion brand? The thesis aims to investigate the remake approach and its impact on the fashion industry and develop a menswear brand based on the process of remake. With a detailed journey of the process, the thesis discussed the key elements of the proposed remake approach, as well as the important role of remaking in achieving a responsible fashion system.
