Sustainability represents the greatest challenge of the 21st century and it often refers to everything related to renewable energy, green buildings, energy saving and respect for the environment, but it is an even broader concept that also considers social and economic aspects. The environmental impact related to the real estate sector is impressive: with 40% of global emissions it generates the highest carbon footprint of any sector. Therefore, it is of fundamental importance to promptly take actions to reduce this huge quantity of emissions in order to support the fight against climate change and to contribute to the collective environmental well-being. This text aims to describe the latest sustainability strategies implemented in the real estate sector and how their implementation can generate positive value for the sector, both from an environmental and an economical point of view.
