Luoghi di comunità. Rigenerazione di architetture e territori montani : un'esperienza progettuale in Val di Sole tra fragilità e opportunità

Every analysis finds his strenght in the capability to merge different targets putting them on a solid path, in order to answer to each of them in a consistent and effective way. This is the starting point of the following thesis about the territory of Val di Sole, in the west of Trentino: to solve multiple problems with a common theme, which is the edge. The edge is a focal element, needful to define the boundaries of a space, a community or any sector of reality in which we live, but nevertheless his significance is often ignored or neglected: society doesn’t wait or care about a lot of people, with difficult conditions or background, leaving them deprived of a concrete role and a personal identity; on a different scale, territory contains a lot of areas, so far from the principal urban centers and called marginal or internal areas, characterized by a really complex and dysfunctional administration of the local heritage that leads to typical cases of abandonment, both of architectural and natural system, and to inevitable landscape decay as aftermath. However abandonment doesn’t mean just disvalue. The origin of the word is in the French ‘être à bandon’ and indicates the status of being checked or in the hands of someone. It’s a very complicated meaning, probably derived from the medieval practice of the feudal lords that controlled and owned other people, referring so to the lack of protection of an object or a person. But the status of desertion could be overturned, focusing on the potentialities hidden in the abandoned object, useful to start a renewal and a revolution that can lean on something already existing, instead of a void. Bortolameoli area emerged as perfect to satisfy this type of intervention and recovery thanks to a rural local hub where can be settled and established a new community, composed by some of the most fragile categories of our society. The project aim to make this group an example of sustainable and clever program and intervention on these areas, offering a modern infrastructure of the territory and trying at the same time to contrast the problems of growing land consumption and low inclusiveness granted to weakest people of our society, first of all the homeless.

Elemento di pregio di qualsiasi percorso analitico è la capacità di coniugare obiettivi trasversali e indirizzarli su una strada comune nell’ottica di rispondere a molteplici criticità in modo coerente ed efficace. Da qui nasce il fine primario della seguente ricerca di tesi sulla Val di Sole, nel Trentino occidentale: rispondere a temi diversi ma con una matrice comune, quella del margine. Quest’ultimo è elemento cruciale, definisce i confini di uno spazio, una comunità, una parte di realtà, ma nonostante tale ruolo risulta spesso essere trascurato, in ogni ambito: la società lascia alle proprie spalle individualità private così di un ruolo e di un’identità; su scala territoriale invece esistono zone, le aree interne, lontane dai nuclei urbani trainanti, nelle quali la gestione del patrimonio edilizio e naturale risulta complessa e disarticolata, generando frequenti fenomeni di abbandono, sia di manufatti architettonici sia di parti di territorio, e un’inesorabile scia di degrado paesaggistico. Abbandono però non costituisce necessariamente disvalore. L’etimologia del termine ci riporta al francese antico ‘être à bandon’, ovvero essere in potere, da ‘ban’, potere, giurisdizione. È una parola difficile, connessa all'immagine del lasciare qualcosa alla mercé dei signori feudali, facente quindi riferimento alla mancata protezione di un bene o di un soggetto. Tuttavia, l’essere in potere’ può essere letto anche come una potenzialità latente offerta dall’oggetto abbandonato, la cui sola presenza costituisce di per sé già un valore e un’occasione di ripartenza che sfrutti una base esistente invece di un vuoto. La borgata Bortolameoli si offre a quest’idea di ripartenza grazie alla presenza di un sistema di edifici rurali in serie adatti ad accogliere una nuova comunità, composta da persone in difficoltà e da reintegrare a pieno regime in società, che possa affermarsi come esempio di programma sostenibile ed intelligente offrendo una nuova infrastruttura a servizio del territorio e rispondendo contemporaneamente al duplice problema del sempre crescente consumo di suolo e della mancata inclusività riservata alle categorie più fragili della società, a partire dai senzatetto.
