Commercial Galleries have always been , and continue to be, an important testament to modern technological innovations, typically marked by extensive use of iron and glass, they gave a modern appearance to the cities that housed them. Passages also play a large role in the variation and change in the idea and meaning of shopping for the bourgeoisie of the time. For the first time, the act of buying merged with worldliness: the bourgeoisie did not simply buy, but transformed this moment into an occasion for meeting and socializing. Combining these concepts with the needs of contemporary society, which is increasingly oriented toward an idea of the city of proximity that merges the physical and digital dimensions, we aim to make, once again, the galleries present in the urban fabric protagonists of evolution and innovation on a commercial and social level by going on to change the perception of what the gallery is for the citizen of 2022. Starting with a general historical analysis, we then go on to investigate the increasingly frequent phenomenon of their decommissioning and abandonment that makes them sad, dark and decadent places. Finally, design strategies and two different layouts are hypothesized specifically for the Turin, Meravigli and Unione Galleries system in Milan.

Abstract
Finally, design strategies and two different layouts are hypothesized specifically for the Turin, Meravigli and Unione Galleries system in Milan.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
