The urban transformative potential of Olympic games is undeniable, as the conflicts that arise with decision making process during the state of exception that this type of events represent and its impact on urban spaces, Olympic Games is not just about hosting the games themselves but also about how the host city deals with post-Olympics planning, The legacy. One of the most interesting subjects in the world of mega events is ‘legacy’. It seems that not many people know exactly what a legacy is, and it’s often mentioned as how the event will leave something behind long after its closure. This raises the question of how these legacies should be conducted in terms of resources, funding, and organization such as personnel, social and environmental. Starting from a literature review to better understand the concepts related to this complex contemporary urban “phenomenon” analyze what types of urban process are generated as a result of the Olympic Game management, legacies, and the state of exception it create, specifically the unplanned outcomes we will reflect on in this thesis are Gentrification, Displacement of vulnerable populations, Militarization and privatization of public space and Sustainability (understood as Infrastructure, the physical space and what happens to it once they run out). Finally, reflect that Regardless of the conflicts, the contribution of the Olympic Games to generate development opportunities for a city should be used as an advantage to achieve long-term objectives and not as an excuse to obtain short-term benefits. try to provide an analysis towards a more inclusive legacy. This thesis will focus then on Olympic legacies as catalysts of urban change, and their repercussions in the cities. And it's also an exploratory study on the efforts of the IOC, through the agenda 2020, and the 2020+5, to prevent the negative outcomes and how Paris 2024 is a milestone towards a new way of reshaping urban realms through the Olympic Games legacy. The focus will now be on temporary structures and adaptability. And it is in Paris, where the 2024 Olympic Games will be held, where this new formula will be tested.
Il potenziale di trasformazione urbana dei Giochi Olimpici è innegabile, poiché i conflitti che sorgono con il processo decisionale durante lo stato di eccezione rappresentato da questo tipo di eventi e il suo impatto sugli spazi urbani, i Giochi Olimpici non riguardano solo l'ospitare i giochi stessi ma anche come la città ospitante si occupa della pianificazione post-olimpica, L'eredità.
