Un museo per Meda : progetto per un edificio a destinazione museale dedicato alla città e al territorio

The uncontrolled building proliferation, which began at the end of the XIX century, has progressively deprived Meda of a recognizable forma urbis, reducing the city to an unregulated urban agglomeration in which a marked dualism between the lower city and the historic core survives, areas that respond to this contrast also in spatial terms, occupying respectively the flat land and the hill. The process of urban decay, in addition to having negatively conditioned the development of the building in its formal outcomes, at the same time condemned the local historical memory to oblivion and inhibited the ability of citizens to develop a sense of belonging to the place. The idea of ​​equipping Meda with a new institution capable of bringing its memory back to light and providing the tools for the establishment of a renewed and conscious cultural identity stems from the desire to tackle these problems. Starting from a process of historical-urban and cultural analysis conducted on Meda and Brianza, the proposal for a project for a museum of the city and the territory that can perform the desired functions and reconnect the lower city to the historic center takes shape.

La proliferazione edilizia incontrollata, cominciata a partire dalla fine del XIX secolo, ha progressivamente privato Meda di una forma urbis riconoscibile riducendo la città ad un agglomerato urbano sregolato nel quale sopravvive un marcato dualismo tra città bassa e nucleo storico, ambiti che rispondono a questa contrapposizione anche in termini spaziali occupando rispettivamente il territorio pianeggiante e la collina. Il processo di decadimento urbano, oltre ad aver condizionato negativamente lo sviluppo del costruito nei suoi esiti formali, ha contestualmente condannato all'oblio la memoria storica locale ed inibito la capacità dei cittadini di sviluppare un senso di appartenenza al luogo. L'idea di dotare Meda di una nuova istituzione capace di riportarne alla luce la memoria e di fornire gli strumenti per la costituzione di una rinnovata e consapevole identità culturale nasce dalla volontà di far fronte a queste problematiche. A partire da un processo di analisi storico-urbana e culturale condotta su Meda e sulla Brianza prende quindi forma la proposta di un progetto per un museo della città e del territorio che possa assolvere alle funzioni auspicate e riconnettere la città bassa al centro storico.
