This study deals with the so-called hybrid project management approaches, defined as those methodologies that result to be a mix of practices taken from different approaches (as traditional and agile ones). Indeed, it is used from practitioners to face complex projects that require advantages of both methodologies. In particular, this study is focused on two main goals: to verify the adoption of hybrid approaches and to verify that the adoption of hybrid approaches leads to higher performances. In order to do that, data have been obtained through a survey sent to project managers. Once data have been collected, two types of indexes have been constructed: hybrid index, that gives an indication on how much hybrid approach is used in the project, and performance indexes, that are four indexes that give information on performances of the project. In particular, the hybrid index is based on the single practices taken from traditional and agile approaches; while the four performance indexes are referred to: project requirements, time satisfaction, team satisfaction and customer satisfaction. But also, through the survey, two causal variables have been individuated: the number of employees involved into the project and the working experience of the project manager, in order to observe how performance changes at varying of subject causal variables. Going back to the main goal, the adoption of the hybrid approaches is confirmed being the 72% of the project analyzed managed with hybrid approaches. While, a regression model has been developed with the hybrid index and the performance indexes, in order to verify that through the usage of hybrid approaches is possible to achieve the highest performances. In particular, a quadratic regression model has been adopted and it confirmed that in correspondence of hybrid approaches all the performances result to be the highest. On the basis of the obtained results, it is recommended to the project managers to adopt hybrid approaches due to they can lead to higher performances. Lastly, a focus has been given also to project that deal with ESG factors, developing regression models also for these ones.

Abstract
This study deals with the so-called hybrid project management approaches, defined as those methodologies that result to be a mix of practices taken from different approaches (as traditional and agile ones). Indeed, it is used from practitioners to face complex projects that require advantages of both methodologies.
