Arteriovenous grafts for the creation of vascular accesses offer the advantage of early cannulation. Their main drawback is the failure induced by the difference between graft’s and native vasculature’s mechanical properties. An innovative graft, produced electrospinning a blend of silk fibroin and polyurethane promises to overcome such limitation thanks to its tunable mechanical properties and preserve patency, exploiting an in-situ tissue engineering approach. In this work mechanical, geometrical and physical properties of said graft have been characterized in compliance with ISO 7198 guidelines.

Abstract
Arteriovenous grafts for the creation of vascular accesses offer the advantage of early cannulation. Their main drawback is the failure induced by the difference between graft’s and native vasculature’s mechanical properties. An innovative graft, produced electrospinning a blend of silk fibroin and polyurethane promises to overcome such limitation thanks to its tunable mechanical properties and preserve patency, exploiting an in-situ tissue engineering approach. In this work mechanical, geometrical and physical properties of said graft have been characterized in compliance with ISO 7198 guidelines.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
