The research focuses on a selection of projects and their relationship with the Brazilian architectural tradition of the 20th century, drawing parallels between modern practice, defined by its structure and extensive use of reinforced concrete, and a contemporary practice marked by other compositional principles. The analyzed practices share a similar approach: to think of the project as an interaction of elements manifesting themselves through an operation, of assembly. The montage, its definition and its borders, then becomes the fundamental theme of these questions. Through historical and comparative analyses, we seek to discern this concept whether for tectonic issues, to a design logic, as well as to raise a reflection on a reassembly of historical fragments, components of a legacy. To help its definition, the notion of assemblage is incorporated - a term equivalent to montage in the field of art - which expresses that any and all material can be added, creating a new meaning without losing its primitive coherence. Through this lens, we then seek to outline elements, operations that are specific to assembly-assemblage, in order to provide an expandable reading key beyond the scope of this research. By investigating the narrative potential and the poetic dimension of the act of montage, the research seeks to propose new approaches to the analysis of contemporary production; an approach that identifies the continuities, renewals and ruptures with the productions of previous periods.

Abstract
By investigating the narrative potential and the poetic dimension of the act of montage, the research seeks to propose new approaches to the analysis of contemporary production; an approach that identifies the continuities, renewals and ruptures with the productions of previous periods.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
