Shaping behaviours in complex socio-spatial systems : the role of regulatory urban artifacts during Covid-19

Almost every country in the world is struggling with the different aspects and outcomes of Covid-19 which started in the beginning of 2020, and it is still spreading and being active all around the planet. As we can observe, the pandemic has affected the human lives in different terms and it causes numerous initiatives, strategies and regulations to emerge and they all try to decrease and finish the pandemic era. These strategies and regulation, most of the time have put burdens, obligation and authorization on people actions and tried to limit and ban their choices. One of the considered solutions to tackle covid, has been regulation through the artifacts in order to influence the behaviour of people during the pandemic. These artifacts have proved that they even could be more efficient than ruling (by forcing and obligation) in terms of affecting the actions and direct them in another path. In this thesis, it is attempted to express this phenomenon and declare that the behaviour and actions of people can be altered through the artifacts without forcing or obligate them in Covid-19 condition.

Quasi tutti i paesi del mondo stanno lottando con i diversi aspetti ed esiti del Covid-19, iniziato all'inizio del 2020, e che si sta ancora diffondendo ed è attivo in tutto il pianeta. Come possiamo osservare, la pandemia ha influenzato la vita umana in termini diversi e fa emergere numerose iniziative, strategie e regolamenti e tutti cercano di diminuire e terminare l'era della pandemia. Queste strategie e normative, il più delle volte hanno imposto oneri, obblighi e autorizzazioni alle azioni delle persone e hanno cercato di limitare e vietare le loro scelte. Una delle soluzioni considerate per affrontare il covid, è stata la regolamentazione attraverso gli artefatti al fine di influenzare il comportamento delle persone durante la pandemia. Questi artefatti hanno dimostrato che potrebbero anche essere più efficienti del governare (forzando e obbligando) in termini di influenzare le azioni e indirizzarle in un altro percorso. In questa tesi si tenta di esprimere questo fenomeno e dichiarare che i comportamenti e le azioni delle persone possono essere alterati attraverso gli artefatti senza costringerli o obbligarli in condizione di Covid-19.
