The purpose of this work is to describe the concept of circular economy, its practices, drivers, and barriers to implementation. The concept has been defined as a regenerative system in which resource input and waste, emission, and energy leakage are minimized by slowing, closing, and narrowing material and energy loops. Its definition is accompanied by an examination of its relationship with sustainability and sustainable development, which can be summarized as follows: everything that is circular is also sustainable, but not always the other way around. Issues such as resource depletion, biodiversity loss, and climate change are discussed, as well as how the circular economy can address them. The practices for implementing circularity are studied, the significance of DfX, Take Back Systems, and Product Service Systems is highlighted. Then these practices' drivers and barriers are investigated and a taxonomy able to classify circular business models has been included. A case study on the Buildings and Infrastructures and Furniture and Décor sectors in Italy is also provided. The case study emphasizes the level of circular economy implementation and the methods used, as well as the investments made.

Abstract
The case study emphasizes the level of circular economy implementation and the methods used, as well as the investments made.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
