MIND Recreation And Sport Center

The MIND, Milan Innovation District, is located in one of the main areas for transformation in the northwest direction outside the Metropolitan city of Milan. It is aimed to be an attraction point. Inside the district, an “eco-system” is trying to be created in which different functions and spaces can interact with each other. The program of the building is Sport and Recreation center which is forming a strong link with the context. In the MIND area, mixed functional spaces are proposed which include offices, light – industries, residence built-to-rent, retail, services, public spaces, houses for the students, and residential houses for the elderly. The project is located on the east side of the district which faces and connects the university on the west side and faces hill on the east side which seems to be the “end” or “beginning” of this MIND area. In MIND, there are open common green spaces in separate locations. In the project, it is aimed to give the continuation of these open green spaces to have an integrated unique system in an urban context. The separation of the spaces is linked to the connection between the University and Hill. This project is a layer of terrain in the MIND area influenced by natural ground movements. It is a landscape terrain interpretation. The building itself seems to come out from the ground rather than dropped from the sky. At first sight, the building is understood by having the sensation of being located under the topography by green roofs. The first layer of the green roof is walkable and that roof is also connected with interior spaces, that’s the reason the whole building is being conceived as a unique element with the landscape. Facade decisions also power this integration. Facade elements of the building are forming an exterior shell growing from the ground and intersecting with the horizontal axis. The project finds its ‘place’ in the MIND area with innovative technological systems integration which gives richness to the district. The building is conceived in a poetic way and creates an attraction point in the area.

Il MIND, Milan Innovation District, si trova in una delle principali aree di trasformazione in direzione nord-ovest al di fuori della Città Metropolitana di Milano. Ha lo scopo di essere un punto di attrazione. All'interno del quartiere si sta cercando di creare un “ecosistema” in cui diverse funzioni e spazi possano interagire tra loro. Il programma dell'edificio è un centro sportivo e ricreativo che forma un forte legame con il contesto. Nell'area MIND vengono proposti spazi funzionali misti che comprendono uffici, industrie leggere, residenza costruita per l'affitto, negozi, servizi, spazi pubblici, case per studenti e case residenziali per anziani. Il progetto si trova sul lato est del quartiere che si affaccia e collega l'università sul lato ovest e si affaccia sulla collina sul lato est che sembra essere la "fine" o "l'inizio" di questa area MIND. In MIND ci sono spazi verdi comuni aperti in luoghi separati. Nel progetto, si mira a dare la continuazione di questi spazi verdi aperti per avere un sistema unico integrato in un contesto urbano. La separazione degli spazi è legata alla connessione tra Università e Collina. Questo progetto è uno strato di terreno nell'area MIND influenzato dai movimenti naturali del terreno. È un'interpretazione del terreno paesaggistico. L'edificio stesso sembra emergere dal terreno piuttosto che cadere dal cielo. A prima vista, l'edificio si comprende avendo la sensazione di trovarsi sotto la topografia dei tetti verdi. Il primo strato del tetto verde è calpestabile e quel tetto è anche connesso con gli spazi interni, ecco perché l'intero edificio è stato concepito come un elemento unico con il paesaggio. Anche le decisioni sulla facciata alimentano questa integrazione. Gli elementi della facciata dell'edificio formano un involucro esterno che cresce dal terreno e si interseca con l'asse orizzontale. Il progetto trova il suo "posto" nell'area MIND con l'integrazione di sistemi tecnologici innovativi che danno ricchezza al quartiere. L'edificio è concepito in modo poetico e crea un punto di attrazione nella zona.
