Abstract
Electron spin resonance (ESR) is a widely diffused technique to characterize unpaired electrons. The recent developments in circuit quantum electrodynamics have allowed to probe samples down to the fL volume thanks to cryogenic temperatures, quantum limited amplification and superconducting resonator characterized by low electromagnetic mode volumes and very small spectral linewidths. The proof-of-concept realized have shown an unprecedented increase in the sensitivity of such technique but the are restricted to spins with narrow linewidths, limiting chemical and biological applications. The goal of this work is to address more spin species by dynamically acting on the ESR resonator linewidth to enlarge its excitation bandwidth. Firstly, we study the spin echo sequence numerically, showing an advantage in varying the resonator linewidth. Then we design an on-chip superconducting filter able to perform such task. Finally, we fabricate and measure the device, gaining important insights for future improvements.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
