In this paper we will going to investigate the feasibility of the hybrid system composed by a Small Modular Reactor Nuclear Power Plant for what concern the primary energy production and a Solid Oxide Electrolyzer Cell, for the water electrolysis with the aim to improve the flexibility of the NPP, producing clean hydrogen through the energy supplied by the reactor, both as regards the thermal source for the evaporation of water required for electrolysis, both with regard to the electrical energy needed for cells to make happen the water electrolysis. The focus will be on the behavior of SOEC technology in different configurations to verify its effects in terms of efficiencies, component sizing, and specific operating parameters.

Abstract
In this paper we will going to investigate the feasibility of the hybrid system composed by a Small Modular Reactor Nuclear Power Plant for what concern the primary energy production and a Solid Oxide Electrolyzer Cell, for the water electrolysis with the aim to improve the flexibility of the NPP, producing clean hydrogen through the energy supplied by the reactor, both as regards the thermal source for the evaporation of water required for electrolysis, both with regard to the electrical energy needed for cells to make happen the water electrolysis. The focus will be on the behavior of SOEC technology in different configurations to verify its effects in terms of efficiencies, component sizing, and specific operating parameters.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
