The Fashion Industry is one of the most impactful global industries when it comes to environmental, social, and human impact on the planet, but this means that it is also an industry with many opportunities for change. The relevance of sustainable development in the fashion industry and the key role of consumers in its implementation are unquestionable. A literature review method, both with existing qualitative research, revealed the growing general awareness among consumers, even though it is not always translated into actual practices. Barriers such as lack of information, knowledge, and transparency were found and shared by consumers as reasons they are not motivated to make more conscious decisions. This thesis has been created to increase awareness of the challenges of the fashion industry, in line with the SDGs. It explores what impact the fashion industry has on the environment and people working across the industry. It will introduce the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a collection of 17 global goals set by the United Nations General Assembly to be achieved by 2030, and how they link to the fashion industry and explore the role of the consumer in the current scenario. Consumers play a vital role. Their power can be a force for change and awareness and information are essential. It is the consumer’s right to be informed to become better aware of sustainable development issues and have the knowledge to be committed to achieving it. The project aims to empower, through a design-driven approach, fashion consumers towards a positive change approaching sustainable fashion, having a significant impact on the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Abstract
The project aims to empower, through a design-driven approach, fashion consumers towards a positive change approaching sustainable fashion, having a significant impact on the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
