La fotografia in Lotus : evoluzione dell'utilizzo della rappresentazione dal 1964 ad oggi

The research aims to investigate Lotus' approach to the use of the photographic medium within the magazine, identifying repeated patterns and evaluating how these have evolved over time, starting from the first issues of the 1960s up to the most recent ones. In proceeding, the technological context of recent history will be taken into consideration, the progress of which is to be considered the basis from which communication has changed over the years, from the need to publish in black and white, up to the recent three-dimensional modeling methods of the project. with the consequent production of realistic perspective views and the use of the web as a means of exchanging information. On the other hand, for the understanding of editorial choices and how these new media may have influenced them, direct sources will be used that will make it possible to obtain, through interviews, information on the dynamics within the editorial team, such as workflow management, the choice of material to be published. and the relationship with some important figures in the panorama of photography who have collaborated or still collaborate with the magazine in a more or less recurring way.

La ricerca ha lo scopo di indagare l’approccio di Lotus nell’utilizzo del mezzo fotografico all’interno della rivista, individuando degli schemi ripetuti e valutando come questi si siano evoluti nel tempo, a partire dai primi numeri degli anni ‘60 fino ai più recenti. Nel procedere verrà tenuto in considerazione il contesto tecnologico della storia recente, il cui progresso è da considerarsi la base a partire dalla quale la comunicazione è mutata negli anni, dalla necessità di pubblicare in bianco e nero, fino ai recenti metodi di modellazione tridimensionale del progetto con la conseguente produzione di viste prospettiche realistiche e all’utilizzo del web come mezzo di scambio di informazioni. Di contro, per la comprensione delle scelte editoriali e di come questi nuovi mezzi possono averle condizionate, verranno utilizzate fonti dirette che permetteranno di ottenere tramite interviste informazioni sulle dinamiche interne alla redazione, quali la gestione del flusso di lavoro, la scelta del materiale da pubblicare e il rapporto con alcune figure importanti nel panorama della fotografia che hanno collaborato o collaborano tuttora con la rivista in maniera più o meno ricorrente.
