Convert in machine? The renovation of Les Tres Xemeneies

The urbanization of Barcelona resulted in the rapid industrialization of the surrounding territory, and thus the sant adrià became an industrial city. Les Tres Xemeneies was formerly one of the most significant industrial machineries and the highest structure along the Catalan coast. It served as a consistent source of power for the sant adrià and all of Catalonia. There are still vestiges of the industry near the abandoned machine, such as heavy metal contamination in the surrounding land and beaches, and the collective memory of the locals. Therefore, our design concept seeks to utilize the industrial machine of the three chimneys as a super media to activate and modify the city, the ecosystem, as well as the inhabitants' social lives. In this design, the factory's function will be transformed from a polluting machine to a green-producing one. This step will implant a vertical farm on the site and use the wind to provide the energy. Finally, we integrate industry and public space, converting the factory from a location where workers are wirelessly exploited into a machine that serves the neighbourhoods.

L'urbanizzazione di Barcellona portò alla rapida industrializzazione del territorio circostante, e così sant adrià divenne una città industriale. Les Tres Xemeneies era in passato uno dei macchinari industriali più significativi e la struttura più alta lungo la costa catalana. Serviva come fonte costante di potere per i sant adrià e per tutta la Catalogna. Ci sono ancora tracce dell'industria vicino alla macchina abbandonata, come la contaminazione da metalli pesanti nella terra e nelle spiagge circostanti, e la memoria collettiva della gente del posto. Pertanto, il nostro concetto di design cerca di utilizzare la macchina industriale dei tre camini come un super media per attivare e modificare la città, l'ecosistema, così come la vita sociale degli abitanti. In questo progetto la funzione della fabbrica si trasformerà da macchina inquinante a produttrice di verde. Questa fase impianterà una fattoria verticale sul sito e utilizzerà il vento per fornire energia. Infine, integriamo l'industria e lo spazio pubblico, trasformando la fabbrica da un luogo in cui i lavoratori vengono sfruttati senza fili in una macchina che serve i quartieri.
