The architectural element of the pedestrian bridge dates back to the beginning of time and, nowadays, has begun to take on an ever deeper value for people and for the environment in which it stands.

Abstract
The architectural element of the pedestrian bridge dates back to the beginning of time and, nowadays, has begun to take on an ever deeper value for people and for the environment in which it stands. The footbridge is not limited to being a means to overcome an obstacle, but becomes a symbol, a landmark, a link, a momentum, a tool to discover something that would otherwise remain unknown, distant and inaccessible. The aim of the paper is to analyze the complexity of the aspects that characterize the architecture of the walkway, investigating the semantic richness of the element and its ways of being, its evolution over time and the different typologies that distinguish this structure. The main thread in the thesis work is represented by the investigation of the relationship that this architecture establishes with the landscape, especially the natural one, with the aim of achieving, through an appropriate design, the harmony between artifice and nature. Comparing typological and historical definitions with numerous projects carried out in different parts of the world, it has been possible to exemplify the key concepts that have been covered and get to understand the reasons for the design choices adopted by different professionals in the most diverse contexts.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
