The goal of this thesis is the implementation of a geometric controller for a quadrotor; the main advantage of using a geometric control is the absence of singularities in its formulation and its ability to perform aggressive manoeuvres; the controller does not present any singularities because the attitude is described with a rotation matrix that belongs to the Special Orthogonal group $SO(3)$. The most common controllers for quadrotors usually adopt the Euler angles which have a singularity, which is referred to as gimbal lock. In the course of this thesis, the proposed geometric controller is first tested in a simulation framework based on ROS; in this way, it is possible to test its performance in simulation before implementing it on the firmware of the real drone. The quadrotor employed in this work is the Crazyflie 2.1 developed by Bitcraze. Moreover, in this thesis an algorithm that generates a 3D trajectory passing through a set of waypoints is presented; the geometric controller is then employed to track the obtained trajectories.

Abstract
Moreover, in this thesis an algorithm that generates a 3D trajectory passing through a set of waypoints is presented; the geometric controller is then employed to track the obtained trajectories.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
