Since humans are the cause of most changes in an area’s urban microclimate, they must reverse the effects they cause and force change for the better. Various solutions such as climate responsive design, sustainable development goals (SDGs), and nature-based solutions (NBS) have been developed to reduce the impact of urban heat islands (UHI), which are considered in global programs. Designing dynamic urban elements and engaging people considering NBS and SDGs is an extensible and scalable approach that can improve the quality of urban heat islands (UHI) and create a link between communities and the city. Italy is a member of the European Commission and is working on many projects for a sustainable future. In addition, Milan has been selected as a fashion capital and one of the largest cities in Italy and the world, where almost half of the urban area is built-up and where there are several urban heat islands. Designing dynamic urban elements and engaging people considering NBS and SDGs is an extensible and scalable approach that can improve the quality of urban heat islands (UHI) and create a link between communities and the city. The artistic approach and socially designed spaces are intended to give a dynamic and sustainable character to three squares: Piazza Cordusio, Giuseppe Missori and Sant Agostino. The subway entrances have been designed as points of interest with a flexible construction and vertical gardens to spread and develop the idea in the city and take advantage of the potential of the people. The decisions for the microclimate mitigation and the landscape efficiency in each piazza are based on the cultural and social aspects of the area, which have led to an adaptable and responsive design for the different elements and areas.
Poiché gli esseri umani sono la causa della maggior parte dei cambiamenti nel microclima urbano di un’area, devono invertire gli effetti che provocano e forzare il cambiamento in meglio. Varie soluzioni come la progettazione sensibile al clima, gli obiettivi di sviluppo sostenibile (SDG) e le soluzioni basate sulla natura (NBS) sono state sviluppate per ridurre l’impatto delle isole di calore urbane (UHI), che sono considerate nei programmi globali. Progettare elementi urbani dinamici e coinvolgere le persone considerando NBS e SDGs è un approccio estensibile e scalabile che può migliorare la qualità delle isole di calore urbane (UHI) e creare un collegamento tra le comunità e la città. L’Italia è membro della Commissione Europea e sta lavorando a molti progetti per un futuro sostenibile. Inoltre, Milano è stata selezionata come capitale della moda e una delle città più grandi d’Italia e del mondo, dove è edificata quasi la metà dell’area urbana e dove sono presenti diverse isole di calore urbane. Progettare elementi urbani dinamici e coinvolgere le persone considerando NBS e SDGs è un approccio estensibile e scalabile che può migliorare la qualità delle isole di calore urbane (UHI) e creare un collegamento tra le comunità e la città. L’approccio artistico e gli spazi socialmente progettati hanno lo scopo di dare un carattere dinamico e sostenibile a tre piazze: Piazza Cordusio, Giuseppe Missori e Sant’Agostino. Gli ingressi della metropolitana sono stati progettati come punti di interesse con una costruzione flessibile e giardini verticali per diffondere e sviluppare l’idea in città e sfruttare il potenziale delle persone. Le decisioni per la mitigazione del microclima e l’efficienza paesaggistica in ogni piazza si basano sugli aspetti culturali e sociali dell’area, che hanno portato a una progettazione adattabile e reattiva per i diversi elementi e aree.
