Progetto di sviluppo urbano lungo l'asse nord-sud di Tirana. Il nuovo polo culturale: Accademia Cinematografica e Museo del Cinema

The thesis work presented explores one of the themes that has always characterized the development and construction of the urban structure: the axial system. The study starts from the analysis of different historical axes with the aim of understanding their construction principles and the parts that compose them, to then arrive at the single case study of the urban axis of Tirana. Tirana, the capital of Albania, as it appears today, is the result of a succession of urban plans in which the axis, which crosses the city from north to south, has always played a role of representative element for the city. Following an initial phase of knowledge of the theme and the place, the latest urban plan envisaged for the Albanian capital, entrusted to the Grimshaw studio, was examined, to then arrive at the elaboration of a replacement project hypothesis. The new project provides for the definition of the axis through a map of buildings in line intended for residences and services. Their composition gives rise to compact nuclei whose views face the urban axis under study on one side and green bands on the other which, starting from the northern park of the city, branch out in a southerly direction parallel to the axis . After an initial hypothesis of urban organization, the work continues in the detail of the individual architectural projects which envisage the construction of a new Cultural Center for Tirana, consisting of two buildings: the Museum and the Academy of Cinema. The new system is located in the southern area of ​​the axis, immersed in the direction of the urban park, with the role of hinge between the pre-existing city and the new axis construction hypothesis. In the specific case of the Academy, more in-depth studies have been carried out regarding the structural, plant engineering, material and technological and environmental design aspects.

Il lavoro di tesi presentato approfondisce uno dei temi che da sempre caratterizza lo sviluppo e la costruzione della struttura urbana: il sistema assiale. Lo studio parte dall’analisi di differenti assi storici col fine di capirne i principi costruttivi e le parti che lo compongono, per poi arrivare al singolo caso studio dell’asse urbano di Tirana. Tirana, capitale dell’Albania, così come si mostra oggi, è il risultato di un susseguirsi di piani urbanistici in cui l’asse, che attraversa la città da nord a sud, ha sempre svolto il ruolo di elemento organizzativo della struttura urbana e allo stesso tempo di elemento rappresentativo per la città. In seguito ad una prima fase conoscitiva del tema e del luogo, si è preso in esame l’ultimo piano urbanistico previsto per la capitale albanese, affidato allo studio Grimshaw, per poi arrivare all’elaborazione di un’ipotesi progettuale sostitutiva. Il nuovo progetto prevede la definizione dell’asse attraverso una cortina di edifici in linea destinati a residenze e servizi. La loro composizione da luogo a dei nuclei compatti i cui affacci sono rivolti da un lato all’asse urbano oggetto di studio e dall’altro a delle fasce verdi che a partire dal parco nord della città, si diramano in direzione sud parallelamente all’asse. Dopo una prima ipotesi di organizzazione urbana, il lavoro continua nel dettaglio dei singoli progetti architettonici che prevedono la realizzazione di un nuovo Polo Culturale per Tirana, costituito da due edifici: Museo e Accademia del Cinema. Il nuovo sistema si colloca nell’area sud dell’asse, immerso nella direttrice del parco urbano, col ruolo di cerniera tra la città preesistente e la nuova ipotesi di costruzione dell’asse. Nel caso specifico dell’Accademia sono stati poi svolti studi più approffonditi riguardanti gli aspetti strutturali,impiantistici, materici e di progettazione tecnologica e ambientale.
