In recent years, crowdfunding has become a popular tool for the preservation and valorization of cultural heritage, including architectural heritage. Crowdfunding is a way for individuals and organizations to raise funds for a project or venture by soliciting small contributions from many people, typically via the Internet. Architectural heritage, on the other hand, refers to the built environment and sites that reflect the social, cultural, and historical context of a particular place; it can include buildings, monuments, and landscapes, considered to be of historical or cultural significance. There are different types of crowdfunding and the situation is constantly evolving. In this thesis, the six most popular and currently used types of crowdfunding will be analyzed, including: equity, real estate, lending, reward-based, civic, and donation crowdfunding. The objective of this research is to try to identify which of these types of crowdfunding have already been applied in the field of architectural heritage through some case studies and to reflect on which ones could be introduced instead. As highlighted during the thesis work, it has emerged that there are several types of crowdfunding that can be used in the cultural heritage sector. From what emerged from the analysis, crowdfunding was used in all categories as a tool to finance a cultural heritage-related project. Further analysis showed that the most used types are undoubtedly donation crowdfunding, civic crowdfunding, and reward crowdfunding, followed by equity, real estate, and lending. Further investigation is essential to understanding the effects of crowdfunding on the arts and culture sector, but even more so is the need for greater public awareness of crowdfunding and how this tool can positively affect the cultural sector.

Abstract
Further investigation is essential to understanding the effects of crowdfunding on the arts and culture sector, but even more so is the need for greater public awareness of crowdfunding and how this tool can positively affect the cultural sector.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
