Surreal Pavilion : allestimento di spazi espositivi e sfilate per Schiaparelli a Villa Adriana

The phenomenon of 'patronage' related to the fashion industry is becoming increasingly prevalent. In fact, the big names in the world of luxury are to all intents and purposes second-generation patrons, who through their investments, aimed at financing the artistic heritage, succeed in the twofold objective of enhancing Italian-made manufactures; on the one hand there is the exaltation and conservation of cultural heritage, and on the other a strong return in terms of image for the great maisons that represent Italy in the world. It is in this context that the project for a temporary exhibition pavilion dedicated to Elsa Schiaparelli, a stylist with a strong artistic vocation devoted to surrealism, is set amidst the magnificent architecture of Villa Adriana in Tivoli (a place of childhood dear to the couturier). The exhibition itinerary, which winds its way over an important difference in height, retraces the fundamental stages of the brand, from its creation to its present-day evolution, concluding with a small fashion show representing one of the collections, designed to take place in time slots. In line with the surrealist matrix, which represents the deepest soul of Schiaparelli's collections, the pavilion proposes to surprise visitors with plays of light and ever-changing environments, not immediately perceptible from the outside, whose forms have been traced directly from the planimetric layout of Hadrian's Villa and then simplified and readapted. In continuity with this intervention, of a purely exhibition nature, a further one was conceived that would fulfil the role of event and spectacularisation of the Villa's artistic and architectural heritage. This is the actual parade to host the iconic 2022 Age of Discipline collection, conceived for an event to be held near the Roccabruna tower. The latter represents a particularly fascinating and mysterious location with a privileged view of the Villa and Tivoli. It is unclear what the nature of the building was, but there are theories that it was an astronomical observation point. Given the recurring theme in Schiaparelli's collections, concerning the stars and constellations, which link both the work of its creator and that of the current creative director of the maison, it seemed a particularly appropriate location.

Il fenomeno del "mecenatismo" correlato al settore della moda si sta affermando in maniera sempre più preponderante. I grandi nomi del mondo del lusso infatti, si propongono a tutti gli effetti come mecenati di seconda generazione, che attraverso i propri investimenti, volti a finanziare il patrimonio artistico riescono nel duplice obiettivo di valorizzare la manifatture made in Italy; a un lato si trova per l'appunto l'esaltazione e la conservazione dei beni culturali, dall'altro un forte ritorno di immagine per le grandi maison che rappresentano l'Italia nel mondo. In questo contesto si pone il progetto di un padiglione espositivo temporaneo dedicato ad Elsa Schiaparelli, stilista dalla forte vocazione artistica votata al surrealismo, immerso tra le magnifiche architetture di Villa Adriana a Tivoli (luogo dell'infanzia caro alla couturier). Il percorso espositivo, che si snoda su un importane dislivello, ripercorre le tappe fondamentali del brand, dalla sua creazione fino alla sua odierna evoluzione, per concludersi con una piccola sfilata rappresentate una delle collezione, pensata per svolgersi a fasce orarie. In linea con la matrice surrealista, che rappresenta l'anima più profonda delle collezioni firmate Schiaparelli, il padiglione si propone di sorprendere i visitatori con giochi di luce e ambienti sempre diversi, non immediatamente percettibili dall'esterno, le cui forme sono state rintracciate direttamente dal impianto planimetrico di Villa Adriana per poi essere semplificate e riadattate. In continuità con questo intervento, di natura prettamente espositiva, ne è stato pensato un ulteriore che assolvesse al ruolo di evento e spettacolarizzazione del patrimonio artistico ed architettonico della Villa. Si tratta della sfilata vera e propria per ospitare l'iconica collezione Age of Discipline del 2022, pensata per un evento da realizzare vicino alla torre di Roccabruna. Quest'ultima rappresenta un luogo particolarmente affascinante e misterioso con una vista privilegiata sulla Villa e su Tivoli, non è chiaro quale fosse la natura dell'edificio, ma ci sono teorie secondo cui si tratterebbe di un punto di osservazione astronomico. Dato il tema ricorrente nelle collezioni Schiaparelli, riguardante gli astri e le costellazioni, che accomunano sia il lavoro della sua creatrice, che quello del attuale direttore creativo della maison, è sembrato un luogo particolarmente adeguato.
