Il Compendio Belvedere in Alzano Lombardo : analisi, ipotesi di valorizzazione paesaggistica e recupero della Cascina Diebra

Embedded in the naturalistic scenery of the Seriana Valley, the Belvedere compendium stands out, north of the town of Alzano Lombardo, an Italian municipality in the province of Bergamo. Covering an area of over 50 hectares, the property encloses a system of several satellite buildings that orbit around the symbolic fulcrum of Villa Belvedere, generating a complex of great value for its historical, cultural and natural heritage. The history of the compendium has distant origins, dating back as far as the 15th century, when the appearance of a building dedicated to enemy sighting, defending the feud of Olera, is posited. In 1909, its history became inextricably entwined with that of one of the most important Italian families of the 20th century industrial bourgeoisie: the Pesenti. It was here, at the Cargadura locality, not far from the property, that the extraction of clay limestone for the production of hydraulic binders and natural cements began. This activity was to be the basis of the entrepreneurial success of the family company: Ditta Cementi e Calci Idrauliche f.lli Pesenti fu Antonio, bound to merge with Italiana Cementi, marking the birth of the still well-known Italcementi. Today, these testimonies of local historical memory are managed, protected and promoted by Fondazione Giusi Pesenti Calvi - ETS, a non-profit association, founded in 2020 by the municipality of Alzano Lombardo, with the primary purpose of fulfilling the testamentary dispositions of Dr. Giuseppe Pesenti Calvi, the last owner. They provide for the management and conservation of the estate and movable assets of the entire complex, as well as the promotion of cultural, social and sports activities open to the public. The proposed valorization hypothesis for the Belvedere compendium takes its starting point from the provisions of the Foundation’s Statute and it confirms its desire to maintain and preserve the different souls that have characterized the property, namely its productive-agricultural, sporting and residential vocations. Said aim is pursued through the introduction of diversified functions and punctual interventions on the buildings of the compendium, with the purpose of creating an ecosystem in synergy with the place, the history and the community, which returns the places to the community, reinforcing its sensitivity towards the historical memory and local identity.

Incastonato nello scenario naturalistico della Val Seriana, spicca il compendio del Belvedere, a nord della città di Alzano Lombardo, un comune italiano della provincia di Bergamo. Con una superficie di oltre 50 ettari, la proprietà racchiude un sistema di più edifici satellite che orbitano attorno al fulcro simbolico di Villa Belvedere, generando un complesso di grande pregio per il suo patrimonio storico, culturale e paesaggistico. La storia del compendio ha origini lontane, già databili al XV secolo, quando si attesta la probabile comparsa di un edificio dedicato all’avvistamento, a difesa del feudo di Olera. Nel 1909 la sua storia si intreccia indissolubilmente con quella di una delle famiglie italiane più importanti della borghesia industriale del Novecento: i Pesenti. Proprio qui, in località Cargadura, poco lontano dalla proprietà, ha inizio l’attività di estrazione dei calcari argillosi per la produzione di leganti idraulici e cementi naturali. Questa attività sarebbe stata alla base del successo imprenditoriale della società di famiglia: la Ditta Cementi e Calci Idrauliche f.lli Pesenti fu Antonio, destinata a fondersi all’Italiana Cementi, segnando la nascita dell’ancora nota Italcementi. Oggi, queste testimonianze della memoria storica locale sono gestite, tutelate e promosse dalla Fondazione Giusi Pesenti Calvi - ETS, un’associazione senza scopo di lucro, fondata nel 2020 dal comune di Alzano Lombardo, con la finalità primaria di adempiere alle disposizioni testamentarie del dottor Giuseppe Pesenti Calvi, l’ultimo proprietario. Esse prevedono la gestione e la conservazione del patrimonio immobiliare e mobiliare dell’intero complesso, nonché la promozione di attività culturali, sociali e sportive aperte al pubblico. L’ipotesi di valorizzazione proposta per il compendio del Belvedere prende le mosse dalle prescrizioni dello Statuto della Fondazione e ne conferma la volontà di mantenere e salvaguardare le diverse anime che hanno caratterizzato la proprietà, ossia la sue vocazioni produttivo- agricola, sportiva ed abitativa. L’obiettivo viene perseguito tramite l’introduzione di funzioni diversificate ed interventi puntuali sui fabbricati del compendio, con lo scopo di creare un ecosistema in sinergia con il luogo, la storia e la comunità, che riconsegni i luoghi alla collettività, rafforzandone la sensibilità verso la memoria storica e l’identità locale.
