This thesis is based on the Heliocomplex "Sun" in Uzbekistan, which was commissioned by the Institute of Physics and Technology of the Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic at the time. It combines the latest Soviet design achievements in this field with new metallurgical and material research using solar energy as a convenient and clean energy source. It is a modernist complex of great importance in developing architectural design in Tashkent. From a worldwide perspective, the only building of the same type is the Odeillo Solar Furnace in France, which shows that this type of building is scarce and proves the precious value of this building in another way. However, even though the building has been preserved and is still in use, the overall condition of the building could not be more optimistic. The façade, components, interior artwork, and other parts of the building that enrich its overall quality are in a state of disrepair or destruction, urgently requiring the intervention of an architect for maintenance work. This thesis focuses on the historical significance, functional changes, and design quality of the complex, as well as on a higher level, through a comparison of Uzbek and French heritage protection laws, in order to propose a new strategy of preservation and reuse, both in the hope that the complex can be restored to its former vibrancy in the new era and in the hope of preserving those parts of the complex that are of great value. Finally, this thesis will provide some ideas for the following preservation method of Uzbek architecture.
