The past bears witness to the occurrence, throughout history, of thousands of armed clashes, provoked by different reasons and with different purposes. But we cannot forget that unfortunately, nowadays many Countries are still engaged in armed struggles, causing devastation and destruction of houses, schools, factories and commercial facilities, lack of food and water and violation of primary and inviolable human rights. Lebanon is one of these Countries, where ethnical differencies become an excuse to harm population and buildings and they are the cause of decay, poverty, corruption, lack of services and army interventations. In this work, therefore, we wonder about the role that we can play to help a country, a city, or a neighborhood, according to the skills that we acquired during these university years. Following these feelings, we come to the conclusion that relationships and life between people in an urban center follow the lines drawn by urban planners, engineers and architects, who combine a series of infrastructures, make the place more convivial, safe, harmonious and on a human scale. This thesis will discuss a realistic concept reorganization of a portion of Beirut’s city, the harbour area, involved in an explosion in August 2020, defining areas, the destinations of use and new paths. The main project, however, will be aimed at a limited area of the port, which will represent the new economic and social hub for citizens, capable of including economic activities, entertainment and leisure. A new urban market, overlooking the sea will represent the starting point to promote an inclusive sociality that can look beyond different cultures and opinions, involving people in common spaces, highly evocative with aromas and building architecture respectful of local traditions and the environment itself. The design of the entire port area, which includes the construction of a covered market located in a unic environment, characterized by a modern and elegant shape, but that also looks at the past, defines a mix between ancient and modern. It is composed by a polifunctional space, bars, socializing areas, gardens surrounding it all, a free outside space for trades and a large underground parking, gave us such a big emotion and let us so full of enthusiasm and vitality, that we would desire that you may feel them as well.

Abstract
It is composed by a polifunctional space, bars, socializing areas, gardens surrounding it all, a free outside space for trades and a large underground parking, gave us such a big emotion and let us so full of enthusiasm and vitality, that we would desire that you may feel them as well.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
