Fault identification and prediction in rotating machines, using model-based techniques, are methods treated in recent literature trying to give a quantitative approach to locate and to evaluate the severity of the malfunctions on that machines. Models developed for turbogroups, machines of interest in this thesis, can be studied both in time and frequency domain. Among most recent and functional approaches there are fault identification techniques based on least squares identification in frequency domain. The aim of these techniques is to reproduce the dynamic behavior of the faulty rotor using a set of equivalent excitations. Despite of the goodness of the results obtained using this method, even if the mathematical model presents simplifications, there are situations in which more than one result seems reliable; that’s what happened in the case of study reported below. Sometimes, the objective function, to be minimized in the fault identification method, shows multiple sufficiently low values that are associated with different sets of equivalent excitations by means of which the fault can be modeled. The aim of the thesis is to complete this model-based identification technique on large rotating machines, based on least square identification in frequency domain, using a modal approach. It will be shown how the knowledge of the contribution of each normal mode of interest, to the vibration predicted at each measurement point, can provide useful information to identify univocally the actual fault present on the rotor. For supporting this thesis the complete methodology will be applied to a real case.

Abstract
For supporting this thesis the complete methodology will be applied to a real case.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
