Numerous industrial applications require a full knowledge of the behavior of the sea and the distribution of the energy that it can introduce to different types of offshore structures.

Abstract
Numerous industrial applications require a full knowledge of the behavior of the sea and the distribution of the energy that it can introduce to different types of offshore structures. From the several tools that are nowadays implemented on this task, the parametric methods such as the Autoregressive Moving Average (ARMA) model are preferred due to the outstanding accuracy with low computational burden. In this work, an ARMAbased spectral estimation method was implemented to evaluate the energy content of four different bimodal sea states constructed parametrically by the JONSWAP formulation. For the estimation of the ARMA coefficients, the Prony and Shanks methods were implemented. The auto-correlation utilized for the estimation is modulated by an exponential time window in an attempt to improve the reconstruction error, obtaining as a result a stabilization of the ARMA coefficients.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
