The project is based on the idea of designing a place that denotes a particular and specific continuity between past and present; it is outlined as an investigation, a search for the more or less evident traces that history has left us over time. Hence the desire to fit into the historical context of the Ghirlanda by thinking and designing a place that could define a continuum between the needs of today's society and the historical palimpsest of the city of Milan. To this end, the design phase is preceded by a part of in-depth analysis on the history and the building events that have taken place over the centuries in relation to the modifications undergone by the Milanese Castle and its close surroundings (Bastions, Tenaglia, Ghirlanda). Understanding the historical heritage of the Castle, its modifications, extensions, demolitions, has also meant studying and understanding the building's alternations, proportions, alignments, showing particular regard for the Ghirlanda in relation to the Visconti and 19th century periods. The historical, documentary and project research has therefore led to the conception of an intervention that sets itself as the continuation of an archaeological walk that, running along the medieval and Spanish walls of Milan, arrives at the creation of a large museum, cultural and attractive centre at today's Castello Sforzesco and, in particular on the site of the Ghirlanda. The project founded in this way has therefore sought, in addition to a clear compositional quality, a dialogue and concatenation between the different disciplines in which we include the technical, structural and plant engineering disciplines; therefore, having defined these premises, it has seen a process that has necessarily had to take into consideration the different disciplinary knowledge that, advanced simultaneously and without compartments that could be separated, have led to and contributed to the overall quality of the final design result.

Abstract
The project founded in this way has therefore sought, in addition to a clear compositional quality, a dialogue and concatenation between the different disciplines in which we include the technical, structural and plant engineering disciplines; therefore, having defined these premises, it has seen a process that has necessarily had to take into consideration the different disciplinary knowledge that, advanced simultaneously and without compartments that could be separated, have led to and contributed to the overall quality of the final design result.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
