Arte e Design come traduttori e diffusori di cultura

This research seeks to understand what relationship exists between artistic and design production and the technological innovations that have marked every historical epoch to date. Art and Design are the two disciplines within society that can bring people closer to technology, thus enabling them to better understand themselves and the social context in which they live. Throughout history, people have always been influenced on a social level by discoveries related to technology, starting with the literacy of societies, then moving on to printing, electricity, up to the web and digitalization today. If the alphabet has irreversibly changed man and his behavior, we have tried to understand how, over time, the successive means of communication, developed with technological discoveries, have modified both human habits and art, the discipline that first was able to capture the social ferment in progress, thanks to the sensitivity of artists, and then translate it into visual artifacts. Art is the medium that allows innovations to be introduced into society, design on the other hand translates the languages developed by art into products usable by the social body, thus allowing it to introject what is new and incomprehensible. Art translates feelings, design translates needs. Art and design can be defined as translators and disseminators of culture. These disciplines act as mediators between humans and technology, enabling the former to understand the novelties introduced by the latter. The investigation focuses on the social implications that today's new contemporary communication tools, such as social media, and social and virtual places on the web, have on humans, and how art and design can translate them.

Questa ricerca si pone l'obiettivo di capire quale relazione esiste tra la produzione artistica e progettuale, e le innovazioni tecnologiche che hanno segnato ogni epoca storica fino ad oggi. Arte e Design sono le due discipline che all’interno della società sono in grado di avvicinare le persone alla tecnologia, permettendogli così di meglio comprendere sé stesse e il contesto sociale in cui vivono. Da sempre, nella storia, gli uomini sono stati influenzati su un piano sociale dalle scoperte legate alla tecnica, a partire dall’alfabetizzazione delle società, passando poi alla stampa, all’elettricità, fino ad arrivare al web e alla digitalizzazione oggi. Se l’alfabeto ha cambiato in modo irreversibile l’uomo e i suoi comportamenti, si è cercato di capire come nel tempo i successivi mezzi di comunicazione, sviluppati con le scoperte tecnologiche, hanno modificato sia le abitudini umane che l’arte, disciplina che prima fra tutte è stata in grado di capire il fermento sociale in corso, grazie alla sensibilità degli artisti, per poi tradurlo in artefatto visivo. L’arte è il mezzo che permette alle innovazioni di essere introdotte nella società, il design invece traduce i linguaggi sviluppati dall’arte in prodotti fruibili dal corpo sociale, permettendogli così di interiorizzare ciò che è nuovo e incomprensibile. L’arte traduce sensazioni, il design traduce necessità. Arte e design possono essere definiti traduttori e diffusori di cultura. Queste discipline fungono da mediatori tra uomini e tecnologia, permettendo ai primi di comprendere le novità introdotte dalla seconda. L'indagine si concentra in particolare modo sui risvolti sociali che oggi i nuovi strumenti comunicativi contemporanei, quali i social media, luoghi sociali e virtuali del web, hanno sugli uomini, e come arte e design sono in grado di tradurli.
