Over the last few decades, the issue of waterfront redevelopment has assumed a fundamental role in urban regeneration processes. This work proposes a reflection on the relationship between the city of Brivio, the Adda river and the cycle/pedestrian path, developing design proposals capable of triggering renewal processes that involve the entire urban context by promoting regenerative dynamics of an economic, social, and cultural nature. The objective of this work is to re-evaluate the Brivio area by proposing a series of interventions to ensure that it is not just a crossing point but that it can become an attraction and resting place, full of activities and services, while paying particular attention to environmental sustainability. This research is divided into several parts: the first part analyses the genesis, transformation, and evolution of the relationship between cities and water, which over the centuries has been increasingly seen as an opportunity for development. The most important European examples of waterfront redevelopment (Amsterdam, Barcelona, Rotterdam, etc.) are then analysed to identify the methods and common characteristics that have led to the achievement of positive results. The second part introduces the Lecco-Milan cycle-pedestrian path that crosses the town of Brivio, of which a historical analysis is also proposed. The third phase is focused on the development of the different points that can be redeveloped to allow the town to be not only a transit point but also a leisure place that offers opportunities, services and activities for the tourist and the town’s citizens themselves. At the end of this research there is an in depth study of the project for a fundamental junction for the town where a new access front has been built to the sports facilities of the city, including amenities that are currently missing but are essential to reactivate the town by creating a network of sports, touristic hot spots, accommodation, naturalistic and leisure activities, also bringing out the traditions and history of the country.

Il tema della riqualificazione dei waterfront ha assunto, nel corso degli ultimi decenni, un ruolo fondamentale nei processi di rigenerazione urbana. Il presente lavoro propone una riflessione sul rapporto tra la città di Brivio, il fiume Adda e il percorso ciclopedonale, sviluppando proposte progettuali in grado di innescare processi di rinnovamento che coinvolgono l’intero contesto urbano promuovendo dinamiche rigenerative di natura economica, sociale, culturale. L’obiettivo del lavoro è quello di rivalorizzare il territorio di Brivio proponendo una serie di interventi per far sì che non sia solo un punto di passaggio ma che possa diventare un luogo di attrazione e di sosta, ricco di attività e servizi con un’attenzione rivolta alla sostenibilità ambientale. La ricerca è stata articolata in più parti: la prima analizza la genesi, la trasformazione e l’evoluzione del rapporto tra le città e l’acqua che nel corso dei secoli è stata vista sempre più come opportunità di sviluppo. Vengono poi analizzati i più importanti esempi europei di riqualificazione dei waterfront (Amsterdam, Barcellona, Rotterdam, ecc.…) in modo da individuarne i metodi e le caratteristiche comuni che hanno portato all’ottenimento di risultati positivi. La seconda parte introduce la pista ciclopedonale Lecco-Milano che attraversa il paese di Brivio, del quale viene proposta anche un’analisi storica. La terza fase si focalizza sullo sviluppo dei diversi punti che possono essere riqualificati per consentire al paese di essere non solo un punto di passaggio ma un luogo di sosta che propone opportunità, servizi e attività per il turista e il cittadino stesso.  Un approfondimento progettuale si sviluppa infine attorno a uno snodo fondamentale per il paese nel quale si realizza un nuovo fronte di accesso alla parte sportiva della città con servizi, attualmente mancanti, ma fondamentali per riattivare il paese creando una rete di attività sportive, turistico-ricettive, naturalistiche e di relax, facendo emergere anche le tradizioni e la storia del paese.
