This Master thesis in Ingegneria Matematica deals with numerical finite elements modeling of fluid dynamics differential equations. Turbulence plays an important role in this area since characterizes many physical phenomena. The aim of this work is the implementation of turbulence models for large eddy simulation, LES, in the finite element library LifeV. The thesis is composed by six chapters. Chapter 1 is devoted to the description of Navier-Stokes equations and the introduction to Smagorinsky subgrid model for large eddy simulation. Chapter 2 deals with numerical modeling of Navier-Stokes equations and introduction to finite element method. Chapter 3 shows the implementation of the model in LifeV library and the description of new features. Chapter 4 gives a description of covered problems geometry and data computation for numerical simulations. Chapter 5 discusses laminar flow results. Chapter 6 discusses turbulent flow results.
