This thesis presents a method for determining the electrical and geometric parameters of weak open (resistive) defects in process monitor lines. The approach involves performing measurements in the frequency domain at either end points of the line. By analyzing attenuation and phase shift measurements, the position and resistive value of the open defect can be determined. Additionally, the unknown characteristic impedance and propagation constant of the defect-free line are based on transfer functions which will be used for the graphical solution at the end of this methodology. This research work describes the experimental setup needed for conducting characterization measurements and presents a straightforward graphical procedure for determining the defect position and its resistance. Experimental results reveal a significant agreement between the estimated and actual locations of the open defects, with errors within an acceptable range observed throughout the experiments.

Abstract
Experimental results reveal a significant agreement between the estimated and actual locations of the open defects, with errors within an acceptable range observed throughout the experiments.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
